There’s often a difference between how we want to be treated, and how we treat others.
This is the reason why people get treated badly so often.
This is why bad behaviour is so rampant.
How we treat others often depends on our mood, circumstance and social status.
But none of those make bad behaviour ok.
Treating others badly, nearly always, is an automated response. Maybe it’s someone lashing out because they’re having a bad day, or maybe they are on a power trip. Whatever it is, the bad responses are nearly always a result of not thinking things through.
Here are a few things to understand about the way you treat others and their impacts:
The way you treat others can and often does come back to you.
Making others feel bad usually will make you feel bad too.
Making others feel bad rarely, if ever, provides a good outcome.
Treating others well will make you feel good.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you are, what your day has been like – treating others badly should never be your automated response.
Bad behaviour should never be the norm.
Politeness costs nothing.
Kindness makes the world a better place.
No one wants to be treated badly. But yet, people find it quite easy – too often – to treat others badly.
It’s time for a rethink.
Think before you act.
